E-Go system for no-stop electronic tolling was put in operation on 10 toll plazas on highway stretch Belgrade- Niš
Drivers heading towards Niš will be able to pay tolls electronicaly and to drive through toll plazas without stopping. The new tolling system is in operation on toll plazas Bubanj potok, Mali Požarevac, Vodanj, Smederevo, Batočina, Jagodina, Ražanj, Aleksinački rudnici, Aleksinac and Trupale, and it is expected to be introduced at Ćuprija, Paraćin and Pojate toll plazas.
On this occasion, the Minister for infrastructure, Milutin Mrkonjic, said that only domestic companies were engaged in this project and that they had the knowlwdge, brainpower and workers capable to perform these tasks at the European level. E-go system already functions at the highway stretch Belgrade-Šid.
According to the IT director of PE Roads of Serbia, Milenko Despotiovic, we might expect the electronic tolling system to start operating by the middle of the next year on the rest of toll plazas on the Belgrade-Nis highway.
Director of the Institute, Vladan Batanovic, stressed that our tolling system was among the most modern systems in the world and fully met all European standards. According to his words, soon, the time will come when the drivers will have the possibility to travel accross Europe without having to stop at toll plazas for payment of tolls using only one TAG device. Works on acheving full interoperability between different systems which are used nowadays are in progress.
