Mihailo Pupin Institute (IMP) proudly announces institutional partnership with Processor Architecture Laboratory (LAP) at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
The project titled “Advancing Embedded Systems Research in Serbia” proposes bilateral institutional partnership between LAP and the Telecommunications Research Group (TRG) of the IMP. It aims at building knowledge and research experience, and increase in scientific publications of young researchers at IMP. This objective will be reached through cooperation with the LAP research group, which is internationally recognized with a strong research and publication record. Several planned visits by young TRG scientists and graduate students to LAP will be focused on specific research topics such as reconfigurable processor architectures, arithmetic circuits design, cache and reconfigurable memory systems architectures. Moreover, TRG will upgrade its laboratory for state-of-the-art embedded systems design with FPGA4U boards developed and used in teaching and research at LAP.
The project will be funded by Scientific Co-operation between Switzerland and Eastern Europe (SCOPES) 2009-2012 program. The project leader is Paolo Ienne, Associate Professor at EPFL and Director of LAP. Key contacts at the TRG at IMP are Goran Dimic and Mirjana Stojilovic.
The scientific cooperation will help the IMP at improving strategic research planning, research project management and building a network of partner institutions in the research area of embedded systems design. This will potentially contribute to Serbian economic and societal development through technology transfer and industrial outreach provided by the IMP.
